Chris looked down at his overhanging gut. It was hard to argue, but it still hurt.
It was fine for Stevo and Dave to remind him of his tubby stature, but not Grandad.
He’d denied what everyone was saying.
“He’s just forgetful.” He’d say.
But bluntness from the kindest man he’d ever known crushed that delusion.
Chris took a deep breath, eyes stinging from the tears that waited impatiently.
“I’ve never told you this, but I love you Grandad. I need you to remember that.”
Grandad smiled and gripped Chris’s arm.
“When did you get so fat?”
